Smoke..

Wow! The smoke has really been thick lately. I have been through fires before, but the older I get the less I like them. I don;t know what it is that causes this fear of the fires..

In Honduras the seasons are divided by the conditions.. Before summer (rainy season) there was the fire season. I remember seeing the thick smoke, the red moon, and the mountain sides glowing in the dark. I would always think that the fire was slowly creeping towards my while I slept. Although nothing ever happened and fire season just became another part of the year.

I never thought I would see a fire season here in the US. I hope the rains come soon...

Please pray for Florida and our fire fighters that are working to put these fires out..

friends gone by..

During our February trip, I was very sad to hear that several of 'our' guys had been killed. I mean the guys that were at the Teen Challenge program when we were there. Each had thier individual personality and each had a very different story. We were very fortunate to have had the chance to share their lives with them and they were like our children.
Our friends with ROC ministry recently lost a girl that they had in their program. I was reminded of the loss I felt at learning that several of our guys had been killed.
I wonder if this feeling, will ever fade? I guess this is what it is like to be a parent..
Our hearts go out to our friends, I understand their loss and although I wish I never have to go through it again but know I will.
I am thankful of the time I spent with each of them an will carry their memory with me always.
